Every single day, someone walks around the corner on our farm, stops in their tracks and says, "Wait. Is that a KANGAROO?" Yes. Yes it is. Meet Rooby and Sydney, two of the most popular residents of Eagle Eye Farm.

The kangaroos of River Falls

Kangaroos are about the last thing most people expect to see on a farm in western Wisconsin, and that's part of the magic. Rooby and Sydney have big personalities, big feet and an uncanny ability to make everyone who meets them grin from ear to ear. Kids love them. Grown-ups love them. Grandparents who swore they'd "just wait in the car" love them.

A few fun kangaroo facts

  • Built for hopping: Kangaroos use their powerful back legs and thick tail to bound along. Their tail works almost like a fifth leg for balance and support.
  • Forward only (mostly): Thanks to their body shape, kangaroos can't easily move backward.
  • Cool customers: Kangaroos lick their forearms to cool off on hot days.
  • Pouch life: Baby kangaroos, called joeys, are born tiny and finish growing in mom's pouch.
  • Group name: A group of kangaroos is called a mob. Pretty tough name for such a sweet face.

Get up close

Seeing the kangaroos is fun. Spending time with them is unforgettable. We offer kangaroo experiences that let you get closer to Rooby and Sydney, with our staff right there to guide you and share what makes kangaroos so fascinating. Options like Romping with the Roos and Feeding the Roos give you different ways to connect, depending on what your group is looking for.

Animal experiences go along with a self-guided or guided tour ticket, so you'll get to explore the rest of the farm too.

Tips for meeting the roos

  • Move slowly and stay calm. Kangaroos are prey animals and feel safest around calm people.
  • Listen to our staff. They know Rooby and Sydney well and will show you the best way to interact.
  • Get your camera ready. A kangaroo selfie is a flex. Use it wisely.

Make it a party

Kangaroos can also be part of a farm birthday party. If you want to absolutely blow your kid's mind on their big day, this is how you do it.

Come say g'day

Learn more about the options and book on our kangaroo experiences page. Rooby and Sydney will be waiting. Probably lounging in the most dramatic pose possible, because that's just how kangaroos are.
