There's something extra special about the farm in December. The air is cold and crisp, the animals are at their fluffiest, and a little snow makes everything look like a holiday card. This year, we're celebrating the season in a brand-new way with our very first Alpacas & Antlers!

Why a holiday event?

So many families make holiday traditions out of things like light displays, cookie baking and visits with Santa. We wanted to give people another way to celebrate: outdoors, with the animals, making memories that are a little different from the usual. Alpacas & Antlers is our festive way of bringing the farm community together during the most wonderful time of the year.

The farm in winter is pure magic

If you've only ever visited in summer, you're in for a treat. Winter on the farm looks completely different:

  • The alpacas have grown back their thick fleece and look like big fluffy teddy bears.
  • The mini Highland cattle are wearing their full shaggy winter coats. A Highland cow with snowflakes on her bangs might be the most festive thing you'll ever see.
  • The Valais Blacknose sheep are cozy and woolly, looking extra like stuffed animals.
  • The English Angora bunnies are basically holiday ornaments come to life.

Honestly, our cows are the unofficial holiday mascots around here. There is no holiday photo they can't improve.

Tips for a winter visit

  • Bundle up. Hats, gloves, warm socks (alpaca, ideally) and waterproof boots.
  • Bring your camera. Holiday card photos practically take themselves out here.
  • Plan your timing. Days are short in December, and guests should be off the farm by about 4pm.
  • Snow? No problem. Tours run rain, shine or snow.

Make it a holiday outing

Pair your farm visit with some gift shopping at All Things Sheared, our farm store, for cozy alpaca goods and unique gifts. Or bring along out-of-town family who are visiting for the holidays. Nothing breaks up a long week of family togetherness like a kangaroo.
