It's that time of year again. Everyone is making big plans to eat better, sleep more and finally organize the junk drawer. I'm all for it! But after spending a lot of time with our animals, I've noticed they have some pretty great life advice of their own. So here are this year's resolutions, straight from the barn.
From the alpacas: Stick with your herd
Alpacas are herd animals, and they really don't do well alone. They eat together, rest together and keep an eye out for each other. Their resolution for you? Spend more time with your people. Call your friends. Show up for each other. Hum a little more. (Okay, maybe skip the humming in public.)
From the goats: Climb something new
Our goats have never met an object they didn't want to stand on top of. They're curious, fearless and always looking for a new perspective. This year, try something you've never done before. Take the class. Learn the thing. Climb the (metaphorical) rock.
From the Kune Kune pigs: Find your sunny spot
Nobody rests like a pig in a patch of sunshine. They're experts at slowing down and enjoying simple comforts. If your resolution is to stress less, take notes from the pigs. Rest is productive too.
From the kangaroos: Keep moving forward
Here's a fun fact: kangaroos can't easily hop backward. Their big tails and powerful back legs are built for moving forward. That feels like a pretty good motto for a new year, doesn't it?
From the Highland cattle: Embrace the bad hair days
Our mini Highland cattle have bangs that hang right over their eyes, and they look fabulous anyway. Their message: stop worrying so much about looking perfect. Shaggy is a vibe.
From the porcupines: Set some boundaries
Porcupines are sweet, curious little creatures, but they also come with built-in boundaries. Respect the quills! Saying no to some things means you have more energy for the things that matter.
From the whole farm: Get outside
Fresh air, sunshine (even the winter kind) and time with animals are good for the soul. If one of your goals this year is to spend more time outdoors and less time on screens, we'd love to help with that.
Yes, we're open on the holidays
We're open 10am to 4pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Start the year off with a visit to the farm. Bundle up, bring the family, and kick off your resolutions the right way. Tours run rain, shine or snow.
Plan your visit on our farm tours page. Happy New Year from all of us at Eagle Eye Farm!
