People sometimes ask me, "So, what kind of farm is Eagle Eye Farm?" It's a fair question! We're not a dairy, we don't grow corn, and we're definitely not a petting zoo. The best answer is that we're an agritourism farm. It's a bit of a mouthful, so let me explain what it means and why I love it.
Agritourism, defined
Agritourism is any experience that brings visitors onto a working farm. Think apple orchards with pick-your-own days, pumpkin patches, farm stays, and yes, farms like ours where you can meet the animals, learn how they're cared for and spend a few hours outside. It's part farm, part education, part pure fun.
Why it matters
These days, a lot of people grow up without ever spending time on a farm. They've never touched alpaca fleece, watched a goat climb something it absolutely shouldn't, or seen how much work goes into caring for animals every single day. Agritourism closes that gap. It lets families, kids, couples and curious grown-ups see farm life up close, ask questions and leave with a little more understanding (and usually a lot of photos).
What makes Eagle Eye Farm a little different
We started with alpacas, and alpacas are still a huge part of who we are. Our herd was named the #1 small alpaca farm in the country in 2022 and the #1 medium alpaca farm in 2023 by the Alpaca Owners Association, and we're very proud of that. But over the years, the farm grew into something bigger. Today we're home to more than 130 animals across 14 species, including:
- Alpacas and Taz the llama
- Pygmy and Nigerian Dwarf cross goats
- Kune Kune pigs and Valais Blacknose sheep
- Mini Highland cattle and donkeys
- English Angora bunnies, chickens and peacocks
- Porcupines and kangaroos (yes, in Wisconsin)
We offer tours, animal experiences, alpaca and goat yoga, birthday parties, school field trips and seasonal events. We're open 10am to 4pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, because the animals need care every day anyway, so why not share them?
Care comes first
Opening a farm to visitors comes with a big responsibility. Our animals' health and happiness always come first. That's why we keep the farm exceptionally clean, with our crew picking up after the animals multiple times a day. It's why our staff know every animal's personality. And it's why our visitors are guided on how to be gentle, calm guests.
Why I love it
My favorite part of agritourism is the moment someone falls in love with an animal they never expected to. The teenager who came along reluctantly and ends up glued to the porcupines. The grandpa who can't stop laughing at the goats. That's what this is all about: connection. Between people and animals, and between people and the land.
Come see for yourself
We're in River Falls, Wisconsin, about 35 to 40 minutes from Minneapolis-St. Paul. Check out our farm tours and come experience agritourism the Eagle Eye way.
