π Our surprise night baby
Our beautiful gray boy wasn't due until Halloween. I was in Ohio visiting my son, Tucker, and Cain was watching the farm. Alpacas almost always have their babies during the day, usually between 10 and 2, so the baby is dry and warm before night falls.
Cain did all of his normal chores and headed home at his usual time. Around 9 p.m., he took Bentley out on the porch, looked out at the herd and saw a little baby following Maybeline. At first he thought it was The Rock. It wasn't!
He hurried Bentley back inside and ran down to the barn. Sure enough, Maybeline had her baby. He was almost dry and already nursing, and he has been an absolute champ ever since.
π He needs a name, and I need your help
His mom is Maybe Its Maybeline. Yes, like the mascara, and she has gorgeous eyelashes. Guess who got them? His dad is EEF Incognito. So we're thinking something with a little glam, a little mystery, or a nod to his sneaky after-dark arrival.

π Know a breast cancer survivor?
This month we're giving a free farm day to a breast cancer survivor who lives within 50 miles of the farm. They get a self-guided tour for 4, plus time with the kangaroos and porcupines. Nominations close Saturday, October 31.
